River to Debut in Copa Argentina Amid Player Absences

Club Atlético River Plate will face Ciudad de Bolívar in their debut in the Argentine Cup next Wednesday, but they are facing considerable absences due to the upcoming FIFA double date. The match will take place at the Único Madre de Ciudades Stadium in Santiago del Estero.

Among the most notable absences are Germán Pezzella and Gonzalo Montiel, called up to the Argentine national team. Montiel will be unable to participate due to a tear in his left calf sustained recently. Paulo Díaz will also miss the match as he has been called up by the Chilean national team for matches against Paraguay and Ecuador.

Additionally, new signing Kevin Castaño will join the Colombian national team for encounters against Brazil and Paraguay, leaving a gap in River's midfield. These absences are compounded by the injuries of Matías Rojas, Facundo Colidio, and Sebastián Driussi, who will not be able to play due to various physical ailments.

Despite the difficulties, River received authorization from the AFA to retain Franco Mastantuono and Ian Subiabre for one day, both called up to the Argentina Under-20 National Team. Although these young players are currently focused on the World Cup of their category, which will be held in Chile in May, they will be able to participate in the match of the 32nd round of the Argentine Cup before joining the youth national team.
